TITLE VI - PURPOSE OF RURAL AND LOW-INCOME SCHOOLS (RLIS)

The Rural and Low-Income Schools (RLIS) program is an initiative that provides grant funds to rural school districts that serve concentrations of children from low-income families. Under the RLIS program, schools may use RLIS funds for various purposes, which may include:
  • Teacher recruitment and retention
  • Teacher professional development
  • Educational technology
  • Parental involvement activities
  • Activities authorized under Title IV - Part A (Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities)
  • Activities authorized under Title I - Part A (Improving Basic Programs Operated by Local Educational Agencies)
  • Activities authorized under Title III - (Language Instruction for Limited English Proficient and Immigrant Students)
