The Pontotoc County School District believes that the involvement of parents and community members is an essential component of nurturing students. Furthermore, the district believes there is a direct link between parent involvement and student achievement.  Every effort to invite and consider parent and community input made to ensure the success of our students. A team of parents, teachers, and administrators developed the following parental involvement policy.


The goals for parental involvement in the Title I program include:
  1. To convene an annual meeting to inform parents of their school's participation in the Title I program, its requirements, and their right to be involved:
  2. To offer a flexible number of meetings at times appropriate for parents to attend and to provide services that relate to parental involvement;
  3. To involve parents, in an organized, ongoing, and timely way, in the planning, preview and improvement of the Title I program.
  4. To provide parents of participating children:
    • Timely information about Title I programs
    • School performance profiles, as well as individual assessment results;
    • Information regarding the curriculum in use at the school, and the forms of assessment used to measure student progress, and the proficiency levels set forth by the Mississippi Department of Education;
    • Opportunities for regular meetings to formulate suggestions, share experiences with other parents, and participate in decisions relating to the education of their children if such parents so desire;
    • Timely responses to their suggestions.
